Ben, Aisha and Kirin each have a purse. Inside each purse are some 1p coins.

Take a look below:

1. How much does each person have in their purse?

2. Who has the most?

3. Who has the least?

4. How many pennies are there altogether?

Helpful Hints

​

Look at Ben's purse and count how mayn pennies he has in his purse.

​

Now look at Aisha's purse and count how many pennies she has in her purse.

​

Finally, look at Kirin's purse and count how mayn pennies she has in her purse.

Going Further

Look back at the purses again.

​

How much more does Aisha have than Ben?

​

How much less does Aisha have than Kirin?

​

What if we add two more pennies to each purse.

​

How much money do they have now?

​

How much money do they have altogether now?

​

If Kirin gives half of her pennies to Ben and the other half to Aisha, how much will Ben and Aisha have now?
